Born in 1968 in Xinjiang, China
Lives and works in Beijing, China – Berlin, Germany

Since the 90’s “Black and White“ has been the nucleus of Qin Chong’s artistic creation and research, somehow inspired in the context of global news and the digital era we are living in. On the occasion of the 56th Venice Art Biennial he led a conference on “Black and White – A Matter of Principle” and discussed with experts from different faculties and coming together from different parts of the world about the future of cultural perception of nations in times of globalisation (10 May 2015, Palazzo Mora).

Qin Chong’s works have been shown in museums, galleries and at international art fairs in Germany, mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Italy, Switzerland and the US. Qin Chong experiments with many different media and creates art works like his large paper installations “Losing” or “Past-Future”, his ephemeral piece “Up To The Limit“, the lively “Evolving Ink“ or his installation “United Nations Black And White“ his performances “When Humans Collide With Earth“ or “One Step Forward“. He gave lectures at Freie Universität Berlin and the Central Academy of Fine Arts Beijing and received scholarships of Switzerland and the German Federal State of Schleswig-Holstein
